Private Uganda Gorilla & Wildlife Safari

7-Day Uganda Gorilla & Wildlife Safari

7-Day Uganda Gorilla & Wildlife Safari

This private 7-day route gives the gorilla trek room to sit inside a fuller western Uganda safari: Queen Elizabeth's plains and Kazinga Channel first, Bwindi's forest in the middle, then Lake Mburo's gentler final wildlife rhythm.

The days are shaped for travelers who want the major encounters without turning the journey into a race. You still cover ground, but the route keeps space for early starts, lodge pauses, and realistic transfer timing.

Day 1: Welcome to Uganda

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport, meet your guide, and transfer to your guesthouse without turning the first evening into a program.

If you land early, we can keep the introduction light with the lakeshore, a short Entebbe outing, or a quiet meal before the longer safari days begin.

Highlights

  • Airport pickup and private transfer
  • Easy first night in Entebbe
  • Optional local activities depending on arrival time

0.5-1.5 hours airport transfer, depending on traffic.

Day 2: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Travel west from Entebbe toward Queen Elizabeth National Park, with the road gradually opening into banana country, crater landscapes, and the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. The Equator stop gives the day an easy break before you continue toward the lodge.

Transfer guide: Approx. 6-7 hours by road with an equator stop and scenic breaks.

Highlights

  • Equator stop en route
  • Scenic drive into the western Rift Valley
  • Game viewing orientation on arrival

Day 3: Game Drives and Kazinga Boat Cruise

Begin early on the Kasenyi plains, when the light is low and the park is most awake. Your guide works patiently through kob grounds, elephant paths, buffalo herds, and predator areas rather than rushing the drive.

In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, where hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and waterbirds gather close to the banks. An evening drive can be added if timing and energy are right.

Highlights

  • Morning game drive
  • Kazinga Channel boat cruise
  • Evening game drive for missed sightings

Short to moderate game-drive sectors in the park.

Full board.

Morning game drive, Kazinga boat cruise, and evening game drive.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, leave the savannah and climb toward Bwindi through village roads, terraced hills, and cooler forest country. Arrive with time to settle in, check the next morning's briefing plan, and let the evening stay quiet before trekking.

If timing allows, a local community experience can add context around daily life, food traditions, craft, or music near the forest without making the day feel staged.

Highlights

  • Scenic drive to Bwindi
  • Community cultural experience, time permitting
  • Quiet evening before gorilla trekking

Snapshot

Approx. 3-4 hours depending on route and road conditions.

Full board.

Transfer through countryside and community cultural dance, time permitting.

Accommodation

Buhoma Community Rest Camp.

Gorilla Camp.

Buhoma Lodge.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking

After the ranger briefing, enter Bwindi with your trekking group and guides. The forest can be steep, muddy, and slow, but the reward is a full hour with a mountain gorilla family as they feed, rest, groom, and move through the undergrowth.

Return to the lodge for a quiet afternoon, or continue to Lake Bunyonyi if that works better for the next day's route and your preferred pace.

Please Note: Gorilla permits should be booked early because daily spaces are limited by sector.

Highlights

  • Ranger briefing and guided gorilla trek
  • One hour with a habituated gorilla family
  • Optional transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Snapshot

Local transfers for briefing and trek, then possible transfer to Bunyonyi.

Accommodation

Day 6: Transfer to Lake Mburo

Leave the highland forest and drive toward Lake Mburo, a smaller savannah park that feels like a softer landing after Bwindi. The route includes scenic stops, then an afternoon game drive or boat cruise if arrival timing allows.

Lake Mburo is known for zebras, impalas, elands, hippos, acacia country, and strong birdlife, with activities that are easy to enjoy at the end of the safari.

Highlights

  • Scenic drive with stops
  • Lake Mburo wildlife country
  • Optional afternoon game drive or boat cruise

Approx. 4-5 hours including scenic stops.

Highlights

  • Morning walking safari
