Our 10-day Uganda itinerary is designed for travellers seeking both wilderness and wonder: hike the trails of the Rwenzori Mountains, witness primates in their natural habitat, and return with memories of authentic East African culture.

Rwenzori Hiking — 7 Days
Day 1: Transfer to Kasese (Base of Rwenzori Mountains)
The Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the "Mountains of the Moon," are a stunning mountain range in western Uganda and eastern DRC, with unique alpine ecosystems and glacial peaks.
- Depart Kampala after breakfast
- Arrive at Nyakalengija for briefing & gear check
- Overnight near Rwenzori gate — Base camp lodge (Kasese)
Day 2: Nyakalengija → Nyabitaba Hut
- Altitude: ~2,650m
- Walk through rainforest; look for colobus monkeys
- 6–7 hours of hiking; Overnight: Nyabitaba Hut
Day 3: Nyabitaba → John Matte Hut
- Altitude: ~3,400m; Bamboo zone & river crossings
- Great views of Mt Stanley and Portal Peaks
- 6–7 hours of hiking; Overnight: John Matte Hut
Day 4: John Matte → Bujuku Hut
- Altitude: ~3,970m; giant lobelia & groundsel zone
- 5–6 hours; Overnight: Bujuku Hut
Day 5: Bujuku → Elena Hut
- Altitude: ~4,541m; Rocky ascent, cold & windy
- Prep for Margherita summit (optional); Overnight: Elena Hut
Day 6: Elena → Margherita Summit → Kitandara Hut
- Summit: ~5,109m; very early start (around 2am)
- Steep climb, glacier crossing with ropes (if attempted)
- Descend to Kitandara; Overnight: Kitandara Hut
Day 7: Exit to Nyakalengija Gate
- Walk down to the park gate; Receive certificates
- Light relaxation in Kasese; Overnight: Kasese town lodge
Day 8–10: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
Kibale National Park is a tropical rainforest known as the “Primate Capital of the World,” protecting over a dozen primate species and offering excellent chimpanzee tracking.
Day 8: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
- Short scenic drive through crater lakes & tea estates
- Check-in at lodge; Afternoon Bigodi community walk
- Overnight: Kibale Forest Lodge
Day 9: Chimpanzee Trekking Experience
- Early morning briefing and forest trek for chimp tracking
- Look for red-tailed monkeys, blue monkeys & rare birds
- Overnight: Kibale Forest Lodge
Day 10: Drive Back to Kampala or Entebbe
- Slow scenic return; Optional stop in Fort Portal
- Drop-off at airport or hotel — End of trip
